Hi! I am Meenakshi, an independent journalist and blogger from Hyderabad. Currently, I am based in the beautiful city of Shillong in northeast India. In my previous professional life, I worked as a technical mentor and analyst in the IT sector for a few years. However, I later transitioned into the role of a junior lecturer, where I had the pleasure of inspiring teenagers to develop an appreciation for the works of Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw, all the while balancing the complexities of War and Peace.

I hold a graduate degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry and Science education, as well as a post graduate degree in English. Additionally, I have a Diploma in Business Management (DBM), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching English (PGCTE), and a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) from Cambridge University, apart from one in Digital Journalism from Reuters. Yes! My passion for knowledge extends to diverse fields.

In 2016, I started my travel and lifestyle blog called PolkaJunction, which has been an exciting journey filled with loads of travel, events and writings. Blogging eventually paved the way to full-time freelance writing and journalism in 2018. Over the years, I have reported numerous stories on travel, science, community health, climate change and culture for Indian and international publications, in both and print and digital formats.

Throughout my career in reporting, content creation and blogging, I’ve covered diverse topics including quirky destinations, local cuisine and sustainability and microbial art.
